My name is Kristen Fournier I was born and raised by my mother in Lethbridge Alberta where I grew up with two younger sisters. I am currently enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program at the Lethbridge College with hopes of attaining my diploma so that I can begin working in a field which I am truly passionate about. From a very early age I loved to teach and help other people. In elementary school I would invite peers to "play school" which I instructed after class and on the weekends in my home.In middle school I often had to reteach lessons to struggling students outside of class by explaining the course material in new fun and exciting ways. Throughout high school I tutored a group of friends everyday during lunch and most days after class. At home I was also able to teach my younger sisters by helping them with homework and class assignments. In addition to being a full time student I am also a part time Bakery Associate at Walmart during the evenings and weekends. My job requires me to be innovative, efficient, organized and friendly all skills which I believe are also necessary in the field of Early Childhood Education. When I am not at school or working I enjoy making arts and crafts. Some of my favorite activities include painting, drawing and knitting. I also like to create Do It Yourself projects such as decoupage. I believe that my enjoyment of arts and crafts is another reason that Early Childhood Education is appealing to me. I am nearing the end of my first year in the program and hope to have my ECE certificate by the end of the summer. I have had practicum placements in preschool and community programs. I have had experience with children newborn-6.
